Set over 4 floors, starting in the lower ground floor the kitchen/dining room is fully fitted modern shaker kitchen, full of atmosphere, with an impressive original fireplace,  electric log burner, original beams, Italian hand-painted floor tiles, glass balustrade and feature radiator, lots of quirky details, showcasing a museum feature with artifacts found during the renovation of the house, including amongst other items authentic pirate rum bottles. 

The lounge is found on the ground floor and is accessed by the main door. It is a charming room with many preserved original features, including impressive fireplace, electric wood burner, original sash window, beams, preserved tongue and groove wall panelling, with the patina of the history of the cottage, set off in relaxing dark Farrow and Ball tones and a warm solid wood floor, feature radiator with comfy leather chesterfields to sink into and unwind. 

The lounge leads up to the staircase filled with beams and original tongue and groove to the immersive 1st floor bedroom, in cocooning rich colours, original beams, sash window and fireplace, offset with industrial lighting and soft romantic details and feature radiator. At its centre is a plush double bed, extremely comfortable mattress, dressed in soft white 300 count cotton that you will relax into and enjoy a refreshing night’s sleep. 

Follow the staircase up to the top floor to the second double bedroom with lovely views out of the sash window to the castle, serenely decorated with a dark relaxing Farrow and Ball palette offset with duck egg distressed tongue and groove and delicate wallpaper, with inbuilt book shelves and feature radiator with a beautiful comfy bed and sprung mattress at its centre dressed in soft cream 300 count cotton. The beautifully appointed bathroom is on the top floor next to the second bedroom and features a high level traditional flush WC, vanity sink unit and corner shower enclosure with Victorian shower, sash window with views to the castle and hand-painted Italian floor tiles.

Quay street is a quaint cobbled street, so parking is limited.  We provide tickets for your stay and you can park your car in the A2 zone in the old town close to the cottage.

The cottage is set over four floors, so if you have mobility requirements this might not be the right choice for you
